Tired and Irritable
... and I just heard somebody on NPR say "... the ship literally limped into San Francisco Bay..."
Since when did "literally" come to mean its opposite? I know, I know, it's been this way for a while, I'm just out of touch. And tired. And irritable. But come on, people.

I believe it was Slate that recently (as in, during the past 6 months) ran an article/podcast on this very issue. I wish it wasn't 12:06 a.m., and that I wasn't tired just thinking about my 6 a.m. wake up call in order to get my kids off to school - b/c if that wasn't the case, I would look up a link for you. But as things stand, I'm only going ot mention that I heard a fun essay on the meaning of the word "literally." If you email me in the a.m., I'll track down a link for you.
sorry about the email address mix up. I kind of assumed (silly me) that it was linked with my blogger user name. i'm gonna go put it on my page right now.
I'm literally commenting on the issue right now. Orwell might blame Rave. Anyway, suits his purposes. And not like like some science-fiction writers who literally suit their porpoises.
